"Securing the scene" in Tega Cay, South Carolina  http://www.tegacaysc.org  is generally pretty easy. Life here moves at a comfortable pace, with many opportunities for recreation, education, entertainment and social interaction.  And the weather ... nice enough to be able to take a walk to the lake most days.

My husband, Charles and I moved here in May 2007.  I had retired from a 20+ year career as an EMS Provider and Instructor.  The title of this blog reflects the Number 1 rule of Emergency Medical Services:  "Secure the Scene".  As an EMT instructor, it was the first and the last lesson I taught - and in all things, if you work to keep your scene safe, life becomes much easier to manage.

I have renewed my passion for the theatre by working at The Blumenthal Arts Center in uptown Charlotte, NC as a Senior Usher. Every week I have the opportunity to usher for Broadway Shows, The Opera, The Symphony, The Dance Company and a variety of other venues.  I'm exposing myself to cultural arts that I might not otherwise experience and being paid a small stipend for the pleasure!

Charles had also retired after 33+ years with Eastman Kodak working as a Systems Analyst and spent the first two years of his retirement earning a Master's at the University of Virginia in Religious Studies.  He is now working as a Religion teacher for Charlotte Catholic High School.

We are blessed with four remarkable daughters: Meghan, Erin, Kate and Jess - all married to wonderful husbands.  We also have seven delightful grandchildren.

This year we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary and are treating ourselves to a Mediterranean Cruise onboard the Ruby Princess  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcacPVH-8p4, which will start within a few days with Rome, Italy.  From there we travel to Naples, Santorini, the ancient city of Ephesus (modern day Kusadasi), Mykonos, Athens, Katakolon (Olympia), Corfu, Dubrovnik (Croatia) and lastly, Venice.

We are nearly packed and looking forward to sharing this adventure.  Stay tuned.
